In the 90’s I grew up watching a show called family matters. One of the characters, Steve Urkel, was the epitome of a nerd.
He had suspenders, high water pants, huge 80’s style thick framed glasses, and a laugh that was a kin to a snorting piglet.
In second grade this man was my idol. I had glasses like him, I sometimes wore suspenders, did “impressions” for my friends, and
watched the show regularly.

“I don’t even go to a church if they don’t have a website” Nadine K.
It’s an honest comment that accurately represents the attitude of the church seeking digital generation. The phrase “don’t judge a book by it’s cover” could easily be applied in a new way to the web world. “don’t judge an organization by it’s website“.
But the reality is the digital generation is looking for a church or organization that utilizes digital resources to connect and share information. This is more than just shading service times, addresses, contact info, mission and belief statements. An effective site could be using calenders that synchronize with their computers, phones, mp3 players. Having downloadable sermons and videos. Releasing sermon notes and questions that can help facilitate individual devotional times or group discussions. Videos or articles about upcoming sermons or studies and why they should partake in the community (The City). Online church services (Life Church). Outreach that takes place on social networking sites like facebook, twitter, myspace.
